In the thirteen years that Kragrlica has been around, there have been jewelry designs that never came to life, were never published, and for some reason we haven't shared them with you. In most cases, we would conclude that the jewelry was impractical or too heavy to wear, sometimes the design didn't satisfy our aesthetics, and here and there we would conclude that there were too many variations on the same theme. There are some photos here that it would be a shame not to share with you. They date from 2017 to 2020, and it seems like a whole decade has passed.
The dangling earrings with green and amber rock crystals were quite heavy to wear, and we also had a problem with the execution. When bending the wire, the beads broke due to the pressure. Although they look impressive, we had a pretty good reason not to realize these two models.
We even came up with a name for these earrings in advance, they were supposed to be called Harper-Harper, and anyone who has been following us for years will immediately know why. A design very similar to this already exists in our collection and is called Harper . Although they are interesting, something about the design didn't sit well with us: two identical elements seemed completely uncreative. They would probably have been a real hit, but it seems that sometimes we too are "victims" of our beliefs and perfectionism. That's what happens when you work too hard with jewelry.
Oversized ear cuff earrings were designed as the perfect statement piece for pierced ears, but since they are in an impractical position to wear and can slip off your ear if you jerk too hard, we only remember them in photographs today. Brass is a very specific material - the sheet metal was too thick to bend and ensure it would stay attached to your earlobe, while a thinner sheet metal of the same dimensions would bend too much. They were not meant to be.
The oval-designed models from 2019 were variations on the theme of everything we had on offer at the time, so we simply ignored them. From today's perspective, we conclude that these were very good pieces of jewelry and that they may still have their future.
The 2018 coral sweets came in a pearl version and were very popular. The model with round corals didn't suit us at all, we imagined oval, oblong beads. At the time, there was a real craze for Kragrlica - everyone discovered it and wanted their own copy, and we weren't ready for that amount of work. We deliberately excluded some models from the story, like this one.
The example with the ear cuff and dangling freshwater pearl was too reminiscent of all the jewelry from Pinterest and in the end we weren't sure if the idea was ours or borrowed. Probably the latter and that's exactly why they were placed within this topic.
We've saved the biggest icing for last: these oversized, curved earrings with pearl beads that gradually decrease in size. Even for that first pilot sample, it was almost impossible to find freshwater pearls in eight different sizes. However, we are still extremely glad that these beautiful photos with a vintage combination from Ulični ormor (Street Wardrobe) happened, which exude the atmosphere of Buddhist temples. With them, we conclude this part of the story, and in the near future you can expect at least one more continuation on this topic.
